And they’re still an important part of our economy and transportation system today. In this lesson, students will be asked to consider how technology and innovation affect the American economy. Railroads were once a vital part of the American experience and the least expensive way to travel. Unfortunately, new technologies replaced railroads over time. However, in this lesson, students will discover that railroads and railways have a bright future as economical and environmentally friendly travel or moving freight.
