Description
Hispanics were some of the first people to explore and colonize North America. Before the British and French arrived, Spanish explorers had already made their mark on this continent. Unfortunately, their contributions are often overlooked in history books or lessons. This Spanish Explorers in America lesson plan aims to change that.
Your students will learn about the brave men and women who risked everything to travel to unknown lands. They’ll also get to see history from a different perspective, one that isn’t often represented in traditional educational materials. This is an excellent way to introduce Hispanic Heritage Month, or simply to add some diversity to your students’ education.
There are few things as inspiring as learning about the accomplishments of those who came before us. With this lesson plan, your students will be enthralled and enlightened. They’ll come away with a new appreciation for the Spanish explorers who helped shape North America into what it is today.
