Wonderful Resource!

I have found Learn Bright to be a wonderful resource for my 7th grade classroom. I teach in a special education comprehensive resource room, and am responsible for science and social studies curriculum. Learn Bright has so many lesson plans that meet my needs. Thank you!

Easy to use, but contained some inaccurate information

This resource was helpful because it was very easy to use. The pictures were attractive and the material was accessible to my 6th grade social studies class. However, there were some inaccuracies in the text, such as stating that only Mt. Everest is higher than Aconcagua, when in fact several mountains in the Himalayas are higher.

In our All about South America lesson plan, students learn all about South America, including its history, its people, its countries, and its culture. Students also learn to locate it on a map.

Description

Our All about South America lesson plan introduces students to the continent of South America. Students are familiar with the seven continents but may not have much knowledge of each continent, the countries, people, attractions, and other information about the continent. During this lesson, students are asked to complete a geography assignment in which they use a blank South America continent map to identify, locate, and label given countries, cities, and landmarks or attractions. Students are also asked to match facts or descriptions to the correct term or place, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to locate the continent of South America on a map, list some of the countries and characteristics of South America, and explain some of its history.
