DINOS A TO Z: TYPES OF DINOSAURS LESSON PLAN CONTENT PAGES

Classifying Dinos

The Dinos A to Z: Types of Dinosaurs lesson plan contains one content page. You know that there are lots of different dinosaurs! What’s your favorite? Did you know that we can classify dinosaurs? Classify means to put things in order.

For example, do you like LEGO®? LEGO® bricks come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. You combine all the same shapes to make them easier to work with. Then, you arrange the same shapes by colors. You classify your LEGO® bricks by shapes and colors!

The lesson then provides a list of 15 classifications with a description and example for each. Why do we classify things? We do it to understand how they are connected. Classifying helps us spot similarities and differences more easily. By organizing things, we can find what we need faster. Can you think of something you’ve classified before?

DINOS A TO Z: TYPES OF DINOSAURS LESSON PLAN WORKSHEETS

The lesson includes two worksheets: an activity worksheet and a practice worksheet. Each one will help students solidify their grasp of the material they learned throughout the lesson.

CLASSIFICATION ACTIVITY WORKSHEET

For this activity, students will use what they learned in the lesson plan to classify three types of dinosaurs. They will write which dinosaur the picture possibly corresponds to on the line next to the picture.

REVIEW PRACTICE WORKSHEET

The practice worksheet requires students to answer a series of 5 questions. These questions all relate to the content pages, so students will need to refer to them for the answers.
