Overview: The Reading-ELA Learning Roadmap Grade 4 lesson guide explores more advanced techniques in English language and reading skills. For instance, students will learn more about figurative language and morals of stories through fables and folktales. The first six weeks spotlight ELA areas, and the final four weeks spotlight reading and literacy.

The reading and ELA roadmaps for all grade levels provide students will a thorough study of language, grammar, writing, and reading.
Using the roadmap for each subject, you can figure out which lessons to teach and when. If you find that your students need extra practice, some roadmaps provide a few additional lesson plans that you can use. Additionally, you can use these lesson of you have spare time to fill. The roadmaps are a guide and are not meant to hold you to a rigid agenda. You can adjust as you wish to meet your specific needs and objectives.
Reading-ELA Learning Roadmap Grade 4
The grade 4 roadmap for reading and ELA takes a more in-depth look at skills students have been learning. Students will focus on finding verbs and adjectives and writing opinion pieces using credible facts. In addition, they will differentiate factual arguments that have support and anecdotal evidence.
ELA, Punctuation, and Grammar
The first few weeks of every quarter focus on English language arts, punctuation, and grammar. Lessons in this section include Action and Being Verbs, Compound Words | Spelling Patterns, Relative Pronouns and Adverbs, and Inferences.
ELA and Writing
Next, students will focus on English language arts and writing in weeks 4-6. These lessons involve developing the skill of research and writing responses. Lessons include Four Types of Writing, Conclusions for Informative Text, Character Study, and Using Temporal Words/Phrases.
ELA Reading and Literacy
Finally, the last four weeks of every quarter explore reading and literature. Students will read, evaluate, formulate, and take a position on opinions. This section includes Evaluating Opinions and Arguments, Credibility of Sources, Comparing Written vs Video, and Fables.
