Description
Our Reasons and Evidence of an Author lesson plan teaches students strategies for determining the reasons and evidence that an author uses to make their point in a piece of writing. During this lesson, students are asked to practice using these strategies by reading an article, rewriting it, and filling out a chart with its main point, reason, and evidence. Students are also asked to identify whether a given sentence would be considered an author’s point, reason, or evidence.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to accurately explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a nonfiction text.
