Description
Our Meaning Through Words and Phrases – Grade 4 lesson plan teaches students strategies for identifying the meaning of words and phrases in text. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to determine the meaning of given words or phrases and then write a 2 to 3 sentence passage that will help a reader understand the meaning of the word or phrase. Students are also asked to read a passage, determine the meaning of any bolded words or phrases, and then answer questions about the passage (such as “What is another word that can be used to replace manufactured?”).
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrases in a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area.
