Identifying Text Purpose

$1.95

With our Identifying Text Purpose lesson plan, students learn how to accurately identify the purpose of a text and the author’s point of view.

Description

Our Identifying Text Purpose lesson plan teaches students strategies for determining an author’s purpose as well as their point of view. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to answer a series of questions, based on a book that they read, which will help them determine the author’s purpose. Students are also asked to develop their writing skills by choosing a topic and writing three different sentences about that topic: one that informs, one that persuades, and one that entertains.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to use clues from a text to determine the author’s purpose and will be able to identify the author’s point of view in a text.
