Description
Our Counting Sounds lesson plan introduces students to counting the sounds in one-syllable words. The introduction to the lesson reviews consonants and vowels and the sounds they make. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to read a story and count the sounds of each underlined word in the story and categorizing them based on the number of sounds, demonstrating their ability to correctly identify sounds in words. Students are also asked to write a word that contains each in a list of given sounds.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to count word sounds by segmenting spoken single-syllable words into their complete sequence of individual sounds (phonemes).
