Our Connecting Individuals, Events, Ideas lesson plan teaches students about how people, places, things, events, and more are connected to each other. Students practice describing the connection between two or more things in order to solidify their understanding of the lesson.

Description

Our Connecting Individuals, Events, Ideas lesson plan introduces young students to the connections between people, events, ideas, or other pieces of information in the content they read, which may include fiction or nonfiction. The lesson presents various types of connections students can make as they read, such as compare and contrast, cause and effect, and sequence. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to discuss the connections they can make between different people or things, including how they’re similar or different, how they can be compared and contrasted, and more; this gives them practice identifying connections. Students are also asked to read a fable and answer questions about it, including putting the events of the story in order.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe the connection between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information in a text, including historical events or scientific ideas or concepts.
