Description
This lesson plan introduces the idea that texts are intentionally organized by authors. It provides students with a strategy to critically analyze a literary work’s structure. By understanding how an author’s structural choices contribute to meaning, students will be able to more fully understand the work as a whole. At the end of the lesson, they’ll be able to explain the overall structure of a text and how it contributes to themes, plot, setting, or meaning. With a better understanding of how authors communicate their intentions through text structure, students will be equipped to engage with all kinds of literature more effectively.
