Description
Our Using Parentheses and Brackets lesson plan introduces students to the use of parentheses, brackets, and braces when solving expressions. During this lesson, students are asked to work cooperatively with a partner to create and solve their own expressions using parentheses and brackets and then have another group double check their work. Students are also asked to individually complete practice problems in order to demonstrate their understanding of the lesson.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.
