Description
Our Understand Multi-Digit Numbers lesson plan introduces students to place value and how to read and write large numbers. The lesson also briefly discusses expanded form, and greater than, less than and equal to signs. A place value chart is included so students have a visual reference when writing the large numbers. During this lesson, students are asked to arrange numbers to make the largest possible number, showing that they understand how place value works. Students are also asked to answer questions about word problems that use large, multi-digit numbers.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to read, write, and compare multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
