Description
Our Word Relationships lesson plan introduces young students to the relationships between words, sorting words by nuances, in word meanings, and sorting words into categories. Many students at this level have a wide vocabulary but may not be able to see the relationships between the words. The lesson helps students recognize the meanings of words beyond their basic definitions, and how they connect words to other words. Students are asked to sort a given list of words into categories, which they create on their own. Students are also asked to identify which in a set of words does not belong and why.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of word relationships and nuances in word meanings and define and sort words into categories.
