Description
Our VCV and VCVe Spelling Patterns (vowel-consonant-vowel) lesson plan introduces students to common spelling patterns using vowel-consonant-vowel and vowel-consonant-vowel-e words and a set spelling list containing words that follow this pattern. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively to play a fun game in which they either take away or add an e to create and define one of their spelling words. Students are also asked to write sentences using their spelling words and identify other words, not on their spelling list, that follow this spelling pattern.
At the end of the lesson, students will correctly identify and use the vcv pattern with short vowel families to spell words.
