Description
Our Topic Development lesson plan breaks down the process of choosing a topic to write about or research. Five steps are provided that students can use to select a topic appropriate for an assignment. The lesson also provides fill-in-the-blank sentences that can help students brainstorm. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to identify topics using specific directives. Students are also asked to place each set of steps for developing a topic in order, demonstrating their understanding of the lesson material.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to effectively choose and develop a topic for a piece of writing, narrowing a broad subject area to a specific and relevant topic.
