Students will learn about how to be precise and concise in their writing. The lesson will also include the concept of sensory language and how to incorporate it into students’ writing. By the end of the lesson, students will comprehend why being able to write precisely and concisely is beneficial.

This is to ensure they deliver the specific message that they intend to. The lesson reminds students that readers should never wonder what a writer is trying to say.

DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH ACTIVITY
The activity worksheet will test students’ ability to use sensory words to describe their home. They will first write some ideas for each of the five senses. Then they will use their notes to write a paragraph about their home. After they complete the paragraph, they can switch papers with someone. Students can then read each others’ papers and mark where they can be more specific.
