Description
Our Generalize Spelling Patterns lesson plan teaches students common spelling patterns, how to identify them, and how to use this knowledge to improve their spelling. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to write 1 or more words for each of the general spelling pattern descriptions (for example, “A word with the short a sound”). Students are also asked to complete several practice activities on their own, including matching words with similar spelling patterns and identifying misspelled words.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to generalize learned spelling patterns when writing words.
