Is it affect or effect? Their or there? It’s easy to get confused when you’re writing. But don’t worry, we can help! This lesson plan will introduce students to some of the most commonly confused words. They’ll get plenty of practice choosing the right word in sentences, and they’ll be able to put their new knowledge to use when writing their own sentences.

Description

This lesson plan introduces students to frequently confused words in the English language. Through a fun, interactive game with a partner, students will practice identifying homonyms and providing alternate spellings for points. Students are also asked to independently practice identifying the correct word to insert into a sentence and write sentences using commonly confused words correctly.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and use frequently confused words correctly.
