Easy and Free!

Was wanting a few lesson plans for an emergency sub folder. This and a few others from Clarendon were perfect. Thank you!

Our Drawing and Writing lesson plan teaches students how to use drawing to help increase writing skills and vice versa. Students practice choosing appropriate visual aids to accompany their writing.

Description

Our Drawing and Writing lesson plan

encourages the use of drawing to help students increase writing skills as well as using drawings to enhance their writing. Because it is often easier for young students to express themselves in drawing rather than writing, creating a picture can help them come up with ideas and add detail to their writing. During this lesson, students are asked to participate in an interactive activity in which they draw an outdoor scene with the rest of their class and then write about the scene, including details that cannot be identified from the drawing alone, teaching them that drawing and writing about the same thing can often create different representations of the same object or scene.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions when appropriate to clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings.
