Description
Our Research, Reflect, Revise lesson plan teaches students strategies for writing more effectively by emphasizing research, reflection, and revision. During this lesson, students are asked to work collaboratively with a partner to answer questions about a topic of their choosing, such as “What are three things you would like to research about your topic?” and “What three sources would you use to learn more about the topic?”, taking the students through each step necessary to properly research, reflect, and revise. Students are also asked to read example scenarios and tell whether each writing is meant to inform, entertain, describe, or persuade.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes, and audiences.
