Exploring Ideas Under Discussion

$1.95

This lesson plan will get your students thinking, discussing and exploring ideas. The focus of this lesson is on group discussions, an important skill for students to master. They’ll learn how to prepare for a discussion, draw on their preparation and share it with the group. This is a great way to get kids thinking critically about a wide range of topics. And since these skills are essential in all subject areas, they’ll be able to use them throughout the school year.

Description

Our Exploring Ideas Under Discussion lesson plan teaches students how to properly research, understand, and present ideas for discussion. During this lesson, students are asked to research specific topics as assigned and discuss them in a group with their classmates, respecting each other’s opinions on the topic. Students are also asked to determine what information they would have to research for a discussion on given topics, demonstrating their understanding of how to determine what information will be important for a productive discussion.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to come to discussions prepared, having read or studied required material, and explicitly draw on that preparation and other information known about the topic to explore ideas under discussion.
