Description
Our Determining Messages in Text Details lesson plan teaches students strategies for identifying and understanding the central message of various types of texts, including myths, folktales, and more. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner taking turns reading a given myth and underlining important details that might help them determine the message or lesson learned. Students are also asked to practice reading texts and answering questions about their central message and how the student used details in the text to determine the message.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text.
