Description

Our Distinguish Information from Text and Pictures lesson plan teaches students how to use pictures to learn more about text and vice versa. During this lesson, students are asked to read a passage and look at a picture and then fill in a Venn diagram to determine what information they got from the text, from the picture, and from both. Students are also asked to complete a “Picture Walk” with a partner where they look at only the pictures and the captions for pictures in a book and tell what they learned from each.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to find different information in pictures than what is in the text and will understand that pictures help us better understand a text by giving us more details.
