In our Percent Increase/Decrease lesson plan, students learn how to calculate a percent increase or percent decrease of a number. Students complete practice problems using the lesson material to solidify their understanding.

Description

Our Percent Increase/Decrease lesson plan provides the mathematical formula to determine percent increase and percent decrease. The formulas are presented individually with examples demonstrating how to use them. During this lesson, students are asked to research the cost of various food items in the past and now and calculate the percent increase or decrease in price, giving them a practical example of when these formulas might be used. Students are also asked to solve provided percent increase and decrease problems.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to solve problems using the formula for percent increase and decrease.
