Description
Our Folktales lesson plan introduces students to folktales in literature. Folktales encompass many different sub-genres of literature that make up the body of children’s literature, and that are referenced in adult literature, such as fairy tales, legends, myths, and fables. Increasing student familiarity with reading and interacting with folktales will increase their ability to read and analyze many traditional forms of literature. Students will read and analyze folktales from a variety of cultures. Students will utilize their creative thinking and writing skills in order to write their own folktales that include traditional folktale elements.
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify the elements of folktales and will be able to write their own folktales based on these elements.
