Description
The lesson introduces the concept of becoming a better reader and improving comprehension through fluency practice. The lesson design is for pair and shares practice with an oral reading as the primary activity. The passages are information reading passages and will result in lower WCPM scores than fiction. The objectives are to provide students with fluency practice, encourage students to read the material carefully, and to increase comprehension skills without sacrificing efficiency. Readers with high degrees of comprehension tend to be readers with a higher range of WCPM.Â
