What our lesson guides include
Overview: The Reading-ELA Learning Roadmap Grade 6 lesson guide blends all the skills students learned during the five years prior. Students will study more advanced texts and language rules than they had in previous terms. They will apply the techniques and concepts they now know to grade-level lessons. Finally, they will explore specific areas within ELA and reading during the appointed period. The first six weeks spotlight ELA areas, and the final four weeks spotlight reading and literacy.

Whether you are a teacher in a classroom or a homeschooler, these outlines will help you keep track of the lessons in all the subjects that you need to teach your students. The reading and ELA roadmaps for all grade levels provide students will a thorough study of language, grammar, writing, and reading.
Using the roadmap for each subject, you can figure out which lessons to teach and when. If you find that your students need extra practice, some roadmaps provide a few additional lesson plans that you can use. Additionally, you can use these lesson of you have spare time to fill. The roadmaps are a guide and are not meant to hold you to a rigid agenda. You can adjust as you wish to meet your specific needs and objectives.
Reading-ELA Learning Roadmap Grade 6
The grade 6 roadmap for reading and ELA advances students skills in grammar, writing and literacy. Students will spend time learning about written and verbal text. Additionally, they will gain the ability to analyze and form opinions on any given content. Each period of all four quarters concentrates on a specific area.
ELA, Punctuation, and Grammar
The first few weeks of the quarter focus on English language arts, punctuation, and grammar. Students will learn more about the conventions of English grammar and usage. Some of the lessons you will find in this section include Greek Roots | Spelling Patterns, Pronoun Shifts, and Additional Use of Context.
ELA and Writing
Next, students will focus on English language arts and writing in weeks 4-6. These lessons involve developing the skill of research and writing a response. Lessons include Presenting Claims and Findings, Clarify the Meaning of Words/Phrases, Character Changes, and Maintaining Style and Tone.
ELA, Reading, and Literacy
Finally, the last four weeks of every quarter explore reading and literature. Students will read, evaluate, formulate, and assess whether what they read is credible. This section includes Understanding Multiple Perspectives, Compare and Contrast Nonfiction Text Structure, and Chapters, Scenes and Stanzas.
