Produce and Publish Writing

$1.95

This lesson introduces students to the importance of keyboarding skills when using technology in the writing process. Keyboarding is a critical skill for developing efficiency in the writing process. As technology increases in mandated assessments and in classroom instruction, students must be proficient in using technology. The lesson focuses on two aspects of writing and publishing using technology. The first is the practical application of using technology. The second is the conceptual idea that the audience determines the style, and some forms are not appropriate to certain types of technology or situations.

Description

Our Produce and Publish Writing lesson plan teaches students how to use various technological formats to produce and publish writing. During this lesson, students are asked to work with a partner to practice their typing skills by typing specific sentences and seeing who can type them fastest and with the least number of errors. Students are also asked to determine whether someone would respond formally or informally to specific situations and determine what kind of technology they would use for their response.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to type one page of text by the end of the lesson within a certain time frame and with 80% accuracy, differentiate between the various technology formats (email, text, blogs, etc.) and will understand what type of language (formal, or informal) is appropriate to use in those formats, and know basic keyboarding skills.
